A worker on a taco truck was attacked by armed thieves in Long Beach

A harrowing incident occurred at the Los Bros Tacos truck in Long Beach, California, on December 16, 2023, when armed robbers attacked a worker named Manuel Antonio. The assailants, masked and armed, stormed into the truck while Antonio was working in the kitchen.

The surveillance footage showed two men surrounding Antonio and pointing a gun at him. As Antonio gestured to the truck owner for cash from the register, one of the thieves snatched his phone. The situation escalated when one of the robbers punched Antonio, causing him to collapse. The perpetrators fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

The traumatic event deeply affected the family-owned business, which had only recently begun operating at this Long Beach location. The owner, Augustine Flores, expressed his concern for the safety of the area following the incident. His wife and 9-year-old son were inside the truck during the robbery, while another son, Yostin, was just outside. Yostin recalled the fear of a potential shooting, concerned for the safety of his family and Antonio.

Despite the shock, Augustine Flores emphasized the need to continue working due to financial obligations, especially during the busy holiday season. To assist with the recovery of the stolen cash, Antonio’s cell phone, and medical expenses, a GoFundMe campaign was launched. Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case, utilizing the surveillance video to track down the gunmen, who remain at large.

As of now, there are no updates indicating any arrests or significant developments in the investigation. The family and the Long Beach community continue to deal with the aftermath of this distressing event.
