On December 17, 2023, a heart-wrenching incident occurred in Lancaster, California, where a 4-year-old boy named Gor Adamyan tragically lost his life in a road rage shooting.
Gor, beloved for his fondness for toy trucks and stuffed animals, was sitting in the backseat of his family’s car when they were chased and eventually shot at by another vehicle. This occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sierra Highway and East Avenue J as Gor’s family was heading out to pick up groceries.
The driver of the other vehicle, in a fit of road rage, first cut off Gor’s family and then pursued them through the streets of the city. During the chase, the driver, accompanied by a passenger, pulled up next to the Adamyan’s car and opened fire, striking Gor in the upper torso.
Despite his parents’ immediate efforts to rush him to a hospital, Gor succumbed to his injuries.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department swiftly acted upon this tragedy. They located the suspect’s vehicle near the scene, leading to the arrest of Byron Burkhart, 29, and Alexandria Gentile, 27, both suspected of murder.
It’s noted that the Mayor of Lancaster, R. Rex Paris, expressed concern about the recent bail laws, which he believes contributed to the suspect being out on the streets despite a recent arrest for a gun-related felony.
The entire community, including the congregation of the church the Adamyan family attended, has been left in a state of shock and devastation. The tragic loss of Gor Adamyan in such a senseless act of violence has not only affected his family and friends but also serves as a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of road rage and the need for safer and more responsible driving practices.
