Scottish Estate Once Owned by Bob Dylan Sells for More Than $5 Million

The sale price of Bob Dylan’s Scottish Highland country home was slightly over $5 million. Aultmore House, Dylan’s property, was constructed between 1911 and 1915. A few years before Dylan buying the house, in 2000, the house had a complete reconstruction.

According to Tatler magazine, Dylan, whose real name is Robert Zimmermann, initially bought the land for slightly more than $2 million in 2006 alongside his younger brother, David.

Situated in the center of the Scottish Highlands, Aultmore is part of the Cairngorm National Park. The Edwardian property is surrounded by 24 acres of land. The main house has a greenhouse, a croquet lawn, a music and television room, sixteen bedrooms, and eleven bathrooms.

The main houses have two kitchens, a staff wing, a billiards room, and a butler’s pantry. 18,357 square feet make up the mansion.

Three other four-bedroom cottages on the grounds are called Curlew, Osprey, and Heron after the birds that inhabit them.

The Head of Rural Agency for Scotland at Knight Frank, Tom Stewart-Moore, said to FOX Business, “I am pleased to share that Aultmore House, which was launched to the market in July, has now been sold to its new custodians, who will usher this magnificent home into its next chapter.”

Following the coronavirus outbreak, Dylan and his brother decided to sell the house, Stewart-Moore revealed to The Times. Dylan and his younger brother used to travel to the Scottish estate occasionally and rent it out when they weren’t living there before the outbreak.

Stewart-Moore told the newspaper, “They bought it because it’s incredibly beautiful and, most importantly, very, very private.”

The entry to Aultmore House is long and fenced. According to Forbes magazine, the three-story main property boasts numerous floor-to-ceiling windows and authentic early 1900s features like the plasterwork on the ceilings, arches, and timber floors that let in plenty of natural light.

There are four paddocks and 3.46 acres of pasture with structures for horse stables on the property.
