Everything Emmys

The Emmys were held September 12, 2022. This writer has compiled all the deets for you right here:

  • Ted Lasso won for Outstanding Comedy Series, beating Barry (which is not really a comedy) and Abbott Elementary (justice has not been served).
Jason Sudekis also won Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for his role in the show, beating Donald Glover (again, Atlanta is not really a comedy), and Bill Hader (with a phenomenal performance. I mean absolutely phenomenal. Go watch Barry to ruin your life).
  • Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for her role in Hacks (is this good? Let me know at biermans@beloit.edu) beating Quinta Bronson (Abbott Elementary is amazing please watch) and Rachel Brosnahan in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
  • Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series went to Brett Goldstein in Ted Lasso (don’t get me wrong – good show – but come on). He beat 2 Barry nominees in a play that will go down as one of the greatest wrongs in the entertainment industry (maybe not).
  • Abbott Elementary finally won one with Sheryl Lee Ralph winning Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series. She beat a bunch of Ted Lasso folks.
  • Moving to drama, Succession won Outstanding Drama Series, beating Better Call Saul (it’s okay my Gilligan fans, the second half of the season is still up for nomination next year), Euphoria (Nate is not hot), Ozark, Squid Games (they’ll get something, don’t fret), and Stranger Things (thank god. Any other ST fans out there? Email your complaints about this writer to mckearnfe@beloit.edu).
  • Did you fret? Hope not. Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series went to Lee Jung-jae for his role in Squid Games, beating Bob Odenkirk, Jason Bateman (awooga), and some Succession hotties.
  • Zendaya won Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for her outstanding performance in Euphoria (that play?), beating Jodie Comer in Killing Eve and Laura Linney in Ozark.
  • Matthew Macfadyen won Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series for his role in Succession (I keep seeing edits on my fyp, I really want to watch it but I’m not sure if I should. Email either “yes” or “no” to schampr@beloit.edu, preferably multiple times so I don’t miss it), beating a bunch of his castmates.
  • Julia Garner won Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for her stellar role in Ozark (money money money drug), beating actors from every other show that has been so far discussed.

If you care about the below-the-line other stuff happening, feel free to leave your unbridled hatred in the form of evil little drawings left on the C-Haus bar. That is all for me, I hope your heart was not broken this season.
