Swimmers Finish Regular Season Strong

Beloit swim is back in action. They were back in action on Jan. 7 at the Robert G. Nicholls Natatorium. Where both, the men and women, took on UW-Oshkosh. Both lost to the Titans, however that is not to say they didn’t have some top finishes.

Among them was Maclayrn Leonard’25 who finished first in the 100 individual medley. Camden Leonard’24 finished with two first place finishes; 100 free and 100 individual medley. The women had two swimmers finish second. They were Lulu Champeny-Johns’24 (100 fly) and Abbey Scott’25 (100 free).

After the home meet, they were scheduled to head up to Carroll University, but that got canceled. Which made their next meet the Wisconsin Private College Championships.

Both teams took fifth place in the championships. Despite the last place finish, there were bright spots for both teams. Colleen Quinlivan’25 took first in the one-meter dive. Camden Leonard took second in the 200 free and 100 free and a third place finish in the 50 free.

The final meet before the conference championships was last Saturday in the Powerhouse. They took on Knox College where they came out victorious on senior day. 

As noted in the Beloit College Athletics write up, they won all but one race. The winners include Ethan Casler’25 (200 free), Scott (200 free), Ben Saladar’25 (50 free,100 free,100 back,), Maclaryn Leonard (50 free, 100 back), Nora Krystowiak’25 (200 individual medley), Tenajh Gaitor’22 (100 butterfly), Lulu Champeny-Johns (100 butterfly), Camden Leonard (500 free), Kaya Martin’25 (500 free), and Bea Champeny-Johns (100 breaststroke). 

Off the one-meter diving board, Quinlivan finished with a total of 153.95. Helena Harrison’25 was second with a total score of 148.15.

The buc swimmers have next week off to prepare for the conference championships that take place in two weeks. February 18-20 in Grinnell, IA. Good luck swimmers and just keep swimming!
