The Bucs are Red Hot!
The men’s baseball team and the women’s softball have been red hot recently! The women’s team this season is 15-9 and are looking to make a push in the Midwest Conference race!
They are currently 6-6 in conference and are making a run at St. Norberts Green Knights. The Knights currently hold the top spot with a 10-2 record! The team has so many stand outs it’s hard to name them all. Maddy Pfortmiller ’22 has had an amazing season so far! She was named conference player of the week earlier in the season! The bats have been hot with Kaitlynn Taft ’22, Emily Staypay ’21, Maddie Moser ’23, and Isabel Johnson ’24 are all batting above .390 and have played in almost every game!
The team has eight games left and four of them are against Lake Forest. Which has been a tough team to play for us all year! However, the other four games are against teams we have handled! With the bats always on and the pitching on the rise, the sky’s the limit for this ladies Bucs team.
The baseball team has been just as good, if not better. They have been so on fire that some websites have them ranked in the top 25. If they keep their winning ways up you could see them potentially top 10!
They just split with Knox and are currently sitting at 15-3. They are in the driver’s seat to get into the conference title game. Sophomore Matt O’Leary ’23 currently leads the team with seven home runs and 39 runs batted in to lead the team. Fellow sophomore Brett Kiger ’23 is second on the team with five home runs and 28 runs batted in. The sophomores aren’t the only ones in the mix as Garrison Ferone’22, and Bronson Balholm’21 are both third and four in home runs and RBI’s.
They have eight games left, going up against Lawrence and the University of Chicago. Lawrerne hasn’t given them fits, but the University of Chicago has been tricky for the Bucs. They are looking to close out the year and stay as hot as they have been all year. If they do secure the one spot they’ll play either Illinois College or Monmouth College for the title. 2016 was the last time that Beloit College won their last championship. The best part about this team is most of the pieces will be coming back next year as well!
Not only are the teams playing their tails off, but now people can attend the games in person! Make sure to come out and support your fellow students. With only a month left in the semester the time is running out to see some historic Beloit teams.
