Donald Trump elected 45th President of the United States

Donald J. Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States in a stunning upset fueled by disaffection and dissatisfaction among white working class voters.

Running a campaign that was motivated by anger at the political, social and media establishment, Trump was able to overcome a lack of political experience, a litany of scandals and more to defeat Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State and a one-time major favorite to win the election.

Trump’s victory defied the expectations and predictions of nearly every pundit in the country, as he outperformed expectations in a wide array of states from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania.

Trump is the first person to be elected to the White House with no government or military experience. At 70 years of age, he will be the oldest person to become a first term president.
