Beloit College wins 21st spot in College Consensus ranking
On Nov. 19, 2018, Beloit College shared the news via Facebook that College Consensus, a college ranking and review website, had named Beloit College as their twenty-first pick in their list of 50 “Underrated Colleges Doing Great Things.”
The list was created to highlight smaller schools who may be outshined by larger universities, and reward those schools for their work in making education at their institutions more unique.
Beloit’s enthusiasm for Liberal Arts in Practice was the highlighted factor in the college’s high ranking. College Consensus stated, “today, Beloit is known for the Liberal Arts in Practice program, which retains the emphasis on hands-on learning, but brings all aspects of the curriculum into a relationship with service learning. The Liberal Arts in Practice Center, the Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Office of International Education collaborate to make Beloit one of the best colleges for experiential learning in America.”
After a complete remodel of CELEB, the college’s Center for Entrepreneurship in Liberal Education, the building located in downtown Beloit contains Gallery ABBA, the student-run art gallery on the first floor, and the Maker Lab, available for student use on the third floor.
College Consensus wrote that “over its century and a half of service, Beloit has been at the center of culture and learning, leading educational innovation and development that has been modeled across the Midwest and the nation.”
The website also cited Beloit’s reputation as the oldest continually operated college in Wisconsin and called it “one of the most unique colleges in the nation and one of the most-loved small liberal arts colleges in the Midwest.”
