Who the Buc are you?: Cross-country runner Melissa Pelkey chats about life
The Round Table sat down with Melissa Pelkey’19, on the women’s cross country team.
The Round Table: Where is your hometown?
Melissa Pelkey: Franklin, Wis.
RT: Who’s your inspiration?
MP: My inspiration is my mom (cheesy, I know). But she does an incredible amount of things for other people without even complaining. She works hards and is so selfless.
MP: Double major in biochemistry and Spanish. I am pre-med.
RT: What do you want to do after Beloit?
MP: I want to go to medical school and possibly specialize in cardiology/
RT: What do you like to do after a meet?
MP: After a meet I like to eat peanut butter banana honey granola burritos and take a shower
RT: Favorite tv show you’re watching?
MP: Grey’s Anatomy.
RT: Who is your celeb crush?
MP: Matt Bomer. (I do know he’s gay, he’s still my crush though.)
RT: How much wood could a woodchuck, chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
MP: Probably like five… just five.
RT: Favorite cheesy pick up line?
MP: Did it hurt? When you fell from heaven?
RT: What was the best vacation you’ve ever had?
MP: Two weeks in Costa Rica when I was 8.
RT: What’s your favorite fun fact to tell people?
MP: I have an accidental fingerprint, it is a fingerprint pattern type that only 0.1% of people in the world have.
RT: If you could time travel, would you go back in time or to the future? Why?
MP: Future, I am super interested to learn what type of new technology and new norms will develop. Especially in medicine.
RT: If you were given a million dollars, but lost a year of your life every time you spent it, would you buy anything with it?
MP: Hell no. Unless I knew that I was going to live to be very old, then I would because I don’t want to be super old and unable to move well and live how I want.
RT: Favorite food?
MP: I can’t answer favorite food. I love food too much. BUT, I really love custard and ice cream, and cheesecake
RT: Who was your idol growing up?
MP: I don’t think I had one, but if I had to guess, I would say Hannah Montana
RT: What was your first kiss like?
MP: Really cute and timid. I can’t really remember where it was, but somewhere in a theater in 8th grade with my “boyfriend,” Will.
RT: If you could live any day of your life over, which day would it be?
MP: For my 10th birthday party we turned my driveway into a drive in movie, it was a dream come true
